Many of us have been flying the DX7 2.4GHz radio with extremely good performance results. And because it’s so affordable, as well as a leap forward in technology, it’s become the first programmable radio for a lot folks who’ve never had a computer radio before. For some of these pilots, it might seem a little daunting to set up a model with mixes or functions. But with the DX7, it’s a whole lot easier than you might think.

One of the functions we’ve been hearing a lot of you asking about is setting up an airplane that requires left and right aileron servos and/or two separate elevator servos. To see just how easy this is with the DX7, open the setup sheet links we’ve included. They make it easy for you to get the basic functions working properly if you just change the setup values we have highlighted in yellow. Follow them carefully before you make any fine tuning changes for your particular model. You can review the results by looking at your transmitter’s monitor screen.

Before you begin, it’s always a good idea to perform a “model reset” to eliminate any unwanted programming that may be in the model memory you have selected. Second, these settings are based on always using the right aileron servo plugged into the AILE port on the receiver. The right elevator servo should be plugged into the ELEV port.

This is a fun exercise even if you don’t need the setup yet, so go ahead and try it out.
